ROAM Free Bus Ride and Discover Grassi Lakes

On another installment of SCPOA walks, we are leaving the townsite and heading to the mountains. Supporting the 'free Roam Bus Service' that passes through our neighborhood, we are hopping on a bus and heading up to Grassi Lakes. 

 (FYI -The number 12 ROAM BUS route is currently on a 'Summer Try Out' and is only available throughout the season on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays. It goes to Quarry Park, The Nordic Centre, and Grassi Lakes on a regular schedule.  It's a great way to avoid parking difficulties and enjoy the local attractions, and if used by a steady number of riders, it may be extended.)

At the Grassi Lakes site, we will walk up the trails to the Lakes to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. The trails are approximately 4.1 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 158 meters. (Please note, Grassi Lake Interpretive trail is the more challenging one with a steeper incline and stairs and is a moderate trail in ability.  It takes approximately 1.15 hours to complete one way at a leisurely pace and goes over forested terrain and rocky areas. The easier trail, Grassi Lake Upper, is wider, follows an old road through forested terrain and has a more gradual slope.) Participants will be divided into two groups depending on their walking trail preference and/or ability. 

Participants are encouraged to wear good walking/hiking shoes. The Activity Coordinators will carry Bear Spray, but participants may bring their own if they wish. You can also bring a snack or lunch to enjoy in the picturesque surroundings with your fellow Spring Creekers.

A waiver must be signed by each participant and handed to the Coordinators prior to leaving for the hike.

Walkers will meet outside the Pulse Coffee shop at 9:50 and we will depart from the hotel on the 10:05 bus.
