We regret that this event is now CANCELLED. Due to the seasonal popularity of this area (Larch trees) the parking lot and the trail can both become very crowded. This congestion would require us to start out at an impractical hour to get both parking and hiking spots. We will try again in 2027.

About the event
Join us on a hike of the Ptarmigan Cirque Interpretive Trail Loop. This hike is 4.5 kilometres in length with a 210 metre elevation gain.
We will meet outside The Pulse Cafe in The Malcolm Hotel at 8:30 a.m. to arrange carpooling to the Highwood Meadows Day Use area.
From the parking lot, we will start off on a steep switchback trail (lasting for about 1 kilometre) through the forest. The trail continues to gain elevation through open and rocky alpine terrain with dramatic mountain views and amazing wildflowers. The trail then follows along a narrow ridge to form the loop before it heads slowly downhill back to the parking lot.
