About the event

Want to learn about Canmore's "coal mining history" and get a bit of exercise as well?

Then this hike is for you!!

This easy, flat walk/hike, measuring 7 kilometres roundtrip along Canmore's amazing pathway system, will start at The Malcolm Hotel.

Everyone is asked to meet outside The Pulse Cafe at 9:00 a.m.

From there, we will walk into Mineside where we'll see sites like fossil trees and stinky ponds! We will learn about the historic No 2 Mine and be given details on its components like the tipple, pitmouth, manway, briquet plant and lamphouse. We might even visit an old coal quarry and see where the original Chinese mine workers lived.
